honestly i'm not even sure if i don't like it but;
when mc likes someone, and they've known each other since high school. then mc knows he can't be together with his crush because the guy he likes is straight. then the one mc likes always have an older brother brother and usually 3++ years older. so then when the mc decides to stop the one sided crush because yk can't be together and stuff, the older brother would now come up (usually the ML) and woo MC and say he liked MC for years and was jealous of his own brother cuz ut wasn't him. time skip, they get together

Miscommunication can CATCH THESE MF HANDS!!! Ik the authors need to meet like a quota or whatever but we do. not. need. misunderstandings every FIVE minutes. Skip the jealousy arc, they can get their character development supplement by communicating their fkn problems instead of making up elaborate plans.
