Does the guy have to have a good family background to be a good man for you?

So I’m dating this guy and he has a lot of family issues that aren’t his fault but he treats me well. Although, my family is saying that I need to get a man that has a good family background and not a lot of trauma so they don’t drag you down but he hasn’t done any of that. He tells me things and gives me advice to help me succeed. I guess the only downside is that I won’t get to go to his family stuff but I don’t feel like that matters. We can have a nice Christmas or whatever holiday together and we can go to my family things instead. He says he doesn’t care about their opinions and that he only cares about making me happy. But idk. Sorry to ask this on Christmas but I wanna know if I’m trippin
