Manga on Mangago?
I remember a long time ago a what you call a "purist" user complained about the webtoons on Mggo. They said that soon enough it would be impossible to read manga on the website as the contents would be overflowed with webtoons. At the time I thought of their comment as exaggerated but after spending 10+ years on Mggo, now I have to agree. When I started Mggo, webtoons were not yet a thing and one could easily find manga. Moreover, the main page offered only or mostly manga on its various lists. Now, in order to read it, whatever the genre, I need to go to the search option and disable webtoons (and even then, still I'll get webtoons with the manga). Not entering into the debate which one is better - I prefer manga and for good reasons but that's another topic alltogether - the point is that manga is not visible any more on Mggo. We're overflowed with webtoons, here, and any other manga website for that matter. My question is: What do you think, should the two groups be separated on Mggo? Like, we could still have it all in this website but under two different categories? Or should the things stay as they are? Or should webtoons be altogether taken down from Mggo? I would like to hear what you think and I would like to hear your reasons.
I don't think we need separate groups. But I think having a manhwa, manhua, manga, etc filter in the advanced search would be nice. Overall I think the advanced search desperately needs an update. reply
this app was never exclusively dedicated to mangas. manhwas have always been a part of it, tho they never quite gained enough traction to dominate the front page. popularity dictates what gets featured, if mangas aren't making the cut, that's just the way it is. manga had its reign for over a decade, and now it may be time for it to take a backseat...... reply
We gotta build a wall to keep the webcomics out, start marking and deporting as many webcomics as possible to prevent the manga cultural genocide. This site's storage shouldn't be wasted on the impure webcomics flooding in. 1 reply
i dont understand. Mangas are getting harder these days to access, most of them dont have english translation unless theyre really popular. Compared to webtoons which is more available internationally instead of sites you can only search by kanji or hiragana. I dont even know any japanese raw sites so it makes sense that webtoons are more available...... 1 reply
I just wanted to agree with you that this site is full of webtoons of various types, and as the site is called MANGOgo, I wish it had less of them. I get that they’re popular but I just don’t personally like them. However, I don’t think they should be removed, and I manage to find manga perfectly well as the site is.
Also, I do think people ...... reply
