He isn't racist at all, it's just that he uses it in the same manner one would use "shit" or "fuck" just cos it's a typical american swear and he wants to "sound" american. Because they're idiots, that's why. Most teenagers—not just teenagers, but also adults— in the Philippines have normalized the n-word, despite knowing the meaning. Generally speaking, "Negros" these days usually refers to people living in Negros Occidental or Negros Oriental. It's just like how we refer to people from Cebu as Cebuanos, from Davao as Davaoeños, or from Pangasinan as Pangasinense. It's frustrating but it's everywhere. Some people are ignorant on purpose, like they have the knowledge and are well connected with the ways of the world but still use it because they want to be edgy and dark. It's mostly the boys in my country but some girls have started to mimic their behavior because their friends encourage it.

many of us roots are from native indigent culture which are colored black too... so they were called N too, or sometimes aeta or igorot..
