Thoughts on the mangadex situation?

If anyone isn't aware yet:-
Popular Manga Reading Site Manga Dex was hit by hundreds of DMCA takedown notices for a wide range of series (unlicensed too) from many major japanese publishers. Many series were removed from the site.

This follows another major DMCA incident related to manga on reddit in recent days.

It seems that japanese publishers or the third party companies they task with it suddenly show unprecedented harshness against manga scanlation.

Listen i can understand taking down things with official translations but what's the point of taking down things with no translation, older stories too? How are people supposed to buy shit if they're not translated? Has everyone forgotten why manga/anime is even popular outside of Japan in the first place?? An attack on piracy is an attack on archival work. Though, I do wonder why these sites don't have mirrors..? Like every online streaming piracy sites has 20+ mirrors, but manga sites don't. reply

Site taken down ? No but i thing its gonna be the second wave of purge where lots of translation goes hiatus or even deleted all previous chapters available. So im begging everyone here especially those IG reels and tiktok content creator please stop posting "recommendations" or goofy edits taking screenshot from this site.
