So, as far as I know and have interacted with, there’s been two stories that have done the revenge rape trope: cherry blossoms after winter (red guy, I believe) and Pearl Boy (incest brother, one of them idk). And I wanna sort of address it super briefly and the reactions I see to it.

First, fuck Pearl Boy, that weird ass mf doing that didn’t avenge his lover in any way or form but rather perpetuated the abuse that his lover had to face. FUCK YOU. Also cherry blossoms after winter, I just know the author added this as a sort of “aha! He got what was coming!” But I can’t prove it…AND using rape as a form of “punishment” is disgusting and cruel.

Second, the “they deserve it” reactions, no they don’t, no one deserves to be raped or abused. That’s disgusting and the reason we have laws is to determine the right punishment (assuming it does its job) and not cock and ball torture in towns square. Also, SOME people think that just because someone is a horrible person it “cancels” their victimhood and that’s just not true. People have, for so long, thought of victimhood as this state of weakness and subservient behavior but imperfect victims exist and you can be horrible to the T and still be a victim.

Personally, I LOVE my imperfect victims, they’re multi faceted and a better representation of real victims. What other tropes are there like this one that you guys like?

I’m sure by now you’ve seen a circulation of the people that climbed the Empire State Building for the “when the power of love conquers the love of power, the world will know peace.” And can I just say…that was just an extravagant, exhibitionist public proposal.

Easily one of my favorite movies but the nature of my critique is for the audience. First of all, as much as it pains me to, women, I don’t believe there’s anything desirable about Nikki’s behavior after Bear makes his wish BECAUSE ITS NOT FUCKING NIKKI YOU DOULT, DID YOU MISS THE PART WHERE SHE PISSED HERSELF BECAUSE SHE HAD NO BODILY AUTONOMY??? Second of all, men, NIKKI IS NOT YOUR FUCKING CRAZY LATINA GIRLFRIEND NOR SHOULD YOU WANT THAT (if you were a self respecting person). The point is that, you shouldn’t wish to be either Bear or Nikki because bear gets trapped in a hell of his own making and Nikki loses all autonomy and is left to deal with the hell left for her by Bear.

Im going to touch on this manhwa probably three times: this is the first time and the the second will be at the peak of its fame because I know it will be famous and third is at the end. The manhwa I’m referencing is Song of the Wasteland. I’ve read the promo, I know the history, and are there cracks in the foundation? Yes, but the foundation is strong, it shows strong promise, the accuracy is THERE (sparsely) but I implore readers to be critical. And if you’re wondering why you should gaf it’s because when you chose to read these stories— regardless on where, you’re encoding them as a part of your world view and black, Native American, and Hispanic communities deserve better than half assed representation based on REAL events that are part of their history. So with that being said, any questions I can answer and if you don’t like what you read, then read something else.
