in your opinion, which crime is worse?
is /SA worse than murder? this is very random but I've been seeing some people who gets super angry when it's about SA, like it's okay for them if this character murdered a bunch of ppl as long as he's not pist so that led me in to thinking of this. I don't wish to start an argument, I just wanna read what your opinions are
SA is a selfish crime made by power-hungry individuals, murder is at times one of the grey area crimes where the moral judgement relies heavily on circumstances.

Recently I read somewhere that SA is the only unjustifiable crime. Murder? maybe self defense. Theft? maybe in need. But SA? there's just no need, you completely ruin someone's life for a couple of minutes of whatever pleasure that's supposed to bring. They'll forget after a while, and we have to carry PTSD for years or decades? ffs.

I think it depends on how you see it. SA victims have to live with the trauma that the assault causes them for their whole life, making them miserable for the most part.
Murder victims... cease to exist.
Obviously taking a life could be seen as worse than assaulting someone (and leaving them hurt but alive), but I think about the aftermath of the...... reply
theyre both horrible crimes but there can be many reasons and motives behind murder, while rape is just unjustifiable
Rape is a violation against another person, always coming from a place of wanting to harm someone and dehumanize them in like the worst way possible, all for personal gain while traumatizing the victim for life
Murder can be self-de...... reply
Both are bad. But murder can kind of be justified in some cases (the victim kills their abuser, self-defense etc) but rape/sexual assault is evil, I guess. SA means that they've always had the intent to do it regardless of the other party's consent. It's about power. reply
most answers here are judging from the perpetrator's perspective, or the perspective of "the law". but if you look at it from the victim's perspective, it's pretty clear which is worse: murder. 1 reply
Both are awful but murder can have motives, like a sort of revenge, it can be accidental and more often times, it's bec of the way a person grew up on. Like thinking this and that are normal. What I'm saying is, someone can be pushed to murder someone but SA? That's just a choice. Nobody literally pushes you to SA someone. The victim is always some...... reply
Rape is seen as a more emotional crime on the victim. Muder only hurts for the loved ones of the victim, and most of the times the stories only make their characters murder npcs, unless they are villains, so the reader has no emotional bonds to the crime in the same way rape does.
Imo murder is worse because there is literally no tomorrow for the v...... reply
It seems like people were saying this about a fictional character and killing in fiction is different from a real murder.
Murder in fiction is often a plot device/allegory. Think when the villain dies at the end of the story or when the protagonist's parents get killed right infront of them: our brains register that as a symbol rather than a crim...... reply
I don't think you can ever definitively say which is worse, cuz it's completely a subjective moral debate. SA is often seen as worse cuz the victim stays alive (and I have my own theory that SA is also seen as unspeakably bad because sex in general is a fairly taboo subject in society, so a crime related to it becomes even more inappropriate to tal...... 1 reply
