Anyone else weirded out by this?
I've been reading mangas since I was in elementary (Shocking ik). I'm in college now, and I've noticed how much råpe is in a lot of them (ESPECIALLY when it comes to yaoi). Personally, I've read my fair share of mangas containing räpe between the MC and their love intrest and in my eyes, that shit is just not it. Even though it's fictional, it's still weird to me and if that's apart of the story, I just can't read it anymore. Aside from rāpe being morally wrong, it's just not something that makes an enjoyable manga. When a story contains rąpe between the MC and their love intrest, I'm immediately disgusted by the story because that is not love. I love myself some dark romance, but râpe is where I draw the line. The reason I ask this question is because I don't really hear many people talk about it. I was curious on everyone else's thoughts.
Isn't this the overall take of most people on here? Idk everytime i see people asking "is it just me" but every other post and comment here says the same thing
Maybe im here too often and just surrounded myself with the sane people bc that's most of what I see on this site 3 reply
careful now, or you'll be called an unemployed kid with zero comprehension skills doing fake activism on an illegal porn site... real talk, you're 100% right though, & people should be concerned. it's insane, absolutely insane how authors and readers have normalised rape sm that people don't have to blink twice to get over the scene. the craziest p...... 2 reply
and you know what the big problem is that when you complain about it they say "its not real" "its not that serious" "its fiction" ITS STILL BAD as someone who started reading these type of mangas as well at a really young age it influenced me that rape is normal or its just normal sex until i grew up and realized it was bad SO NO IT STILL MATTERS E...... 2 reply
I know right.
It's actually romanticization of r@pe.
The mc loves the character so much they can't control themselves around them.
And alot of times, we see even a good story especially the BLS I read nowadays, have a sudden forcing scene like? If the story is going good there's no need to do that. reply
“I don't really hear many people talk about it.”
Girl bsffr most of people in forums fight for their lives against rape in BL.
Where have you been lol 1 reply
Yes I especially hate when they make the victim soley dependent on their abuser ,it makes me sick and somehow they always end up falling inlove and all of a sudden the abuse just becomes forgotten
I can understand if the abuser is the victim's parents because well they're minors and there's nothing they can do about it..but otherwise its just disgu...... 2 reply
Yeah a lot of people are weirded out by the popularity of rape slop. On the flip side, a lot of people also love themselves a rape slop. Which ever side you're on, just know rape is cheap (overused to the point it's pointless and just exist to piss people off) and if a story contains a lot of rape, then that's a cheapass story not worth your time reply
Yea it's been like that with Yaoi for decades now. Even the old school stuff got rape. Imo it's because yaoi is so sex-centered, also bc gay relationships are poorly understood by some writers, or just mishandled bc they ain't got the time.
And part of me is convinced that a lot of people find it either hot or problematic, so people engage with th...... reply
It's called growing up. However, if you point it out, readers will pounce on you like vultures (a few days ago I had argument, when I pointed out that I find it fucking insaine how they enjoy a story where the bottom is forced to have sex, abused, and all that, we know that). None the less, I certainly wouldn't say that the disgusting romanticizati...... 1 reply
