Okay it's kinda a stupid take but just kinda think about it... Most of these popular BLs really suck. Not just because the MLs are rapist but plot-wise it's so boring and shitty. I mean most of these bls have no business being way too popular than they should be. Like I swear some of these ppl are just gaslighting themselves that they like it- they're also so dramatic about the manhwa ending like "awww I'm going to miss my babies" then it's the most atrocious BL you've seen. They have not once been cute throughout the whole story.
I mean I'll ask someone what's their fave bl sometimes and they'll say the same top 10 thing everyone say in idk tiktok or twitter. Like yk jinx, Codename Anastasia, low tide twilight and so on. Like are there any other BLs that's not popular you've read?? I've seen this one user and they said they've read hundreds of bls and I looked at the list and it's all just BLs that was popular throughout pandemic era. That made me convince are some of these readers just trend hoppers?? Idk just a shower thought
I think people started reading BL very young and although the genre evolved through the years (for the worse I would argue), it has a certain formula almost. I wouldn't say the plots are all the same and the mcs and mls are all the same buuut they kinda are because they are troupes (and bc they are troupes,the plot ends up troupey).

You got a point there. Idk why are some ppl hating on you but it's pretty obvious in this community, most people do not read other bls unless it's very popular. It's the same thing in many communities like anime or the music industry. People don't generally take their time to try something new and something different so we end up with the same slop...... 1 reply
People actually like popular shit, there's no secret conspiracy or anything that makes everyone pretend to enjoy the same thing everyone else enjoys
People actually like poorly written shit, liking something doesn't have to be tied to quality

edit: i dedass need to clarify that I actually got too carried away there and just fully focused on hating jinx lovers, I think liking popular works is normal because it's popular for a reason at the end of the day but I think lots of these readers are also just young so they genuinely just haven't like read enough to be able to establish a proper ...... reply
