Please recommend me an anime to show a friend
Tomorrow, a friend is coming over for a night where we share our interests, she's going to show me Formula 1 races, and I'm going to show her an anime. She doesn't watch anime because they don't really appeal to her, and I think I'll only be able to show her a maximum of two episodes, but I have no idea which anime to pick.
I was thinking of something more recent, with really beautiful animation. Please please recommend an anime with a very engaging first couple of episodes, but she doesn’t like psychological or gory stuff. When I mentioned those kinds of shows, she made a bit of a grossed-out face. I think she'd prefer something sweet and fun, but definitely not anything slightly ecchi, I’m sure she’d hate that too…
i do think a movie would be a better pick, howl's moving castle, spirited away, or your name are pretty safe picks and their dubs are pretty good too. if you dont have time for a movie there's spy x family, my love story, kamisama kiss, buddy daddies. 1 reply
I suddenly forgot every anime I've ever watched but here's some I like
zenshu gets darker near the end, but for the most part it's comedy/romance. And based on what you said she probably won't even watch enough of it to get to the darker parts lol
Also I strongly agree with the person who recommended Vivy. It's so good and has some of my favourite...... 2 reply
I would say "Natsume Yuujinchou" (although is quite long)
or "Mahou tsukai no yome"
But tbh is hard to pick something that doesn't have a certain degree of weirdness that a non animal watcher would find bad
If she likes romance maybe Lovely Complex since is easy on the eye and funny too
As for movies, all the ones i watched are either gay o...... 2 reply
Agree with the Ghibli reccs, tho not recent, like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle if it is a movie. I haven't seen Belle yet so I can't speak to the type of story but the animation is gorgeous. Anything by Mamoru Hosada is generally amazing like Girl Who Lept Through Time, but can be really sad like Wolf Children.
As for series, if she lik...... 1 reply
Aughhh I'm realizing everything I watch has some sort of violence! Piggybacking serendipity why not a movie! Ghibli has a lot of sweet and exciting movies. 2 reply
I agree with all the people saying that a movie is a good pick for first watchers but heyyyy there are so many amazing animes out there and as we want your friend to get into them, I put forward a few contenders as well. (Though, like, half of these have already been mentioned.)
A place further than the universe (Oh I LOVE this one)

sweet and fun?? I recommend Dr. stone or witch hat academia then :3... Ive also shown my friend violet evergarden, she loved it but its a bit emotional for a first hangover. 1 reply
I think the best way to introduce someone into anime is with the comedy genre but still have a bit of romance.
Maybe start with Ouran because they have the best English dub. It's easy to get into it or maybe nozaki Kun. 1 reply
