If that lockdown never happened I think there wouldn’t be a lot of anime watchers or manga/hwa/hua readers cause before the lockdown. I couldn’t say stuff like, “oh I like to watch two guys kissing while sobbing at the angst” at the ripe age of 12 without getting shit on by everyone. Now the same hypocrites who says cartoon this cartoon that are the same ones goin “peak!” at the same show and reads they used to shit on.
2020-2023 was a big turning point for the community ngl, new editing styles emerged, cosplay was booming, people saw that anime storylines were actually pretty good and not just yametekudasai gooner material etc.

opposite for me, I lost all my social skills and had zero friends for a good few months. but I still had a good ending bc I ended up meeting my bsfs through the pandemic, I never would've spoken to them before. the butterfly effect is crazy reply
