Janka fic :P
Hello, this is a janka fic I’m writing rn thats kind of a wip. Keep in mind I am no professional writer so this might be ass, but I wanted to write it anyways.
Btw this is a collage au, where Enjin and Gris are Zanka’s dad’s that adopted him after they found him on the street as a kid when he ran away from home(I still wanted to keep some of his family trauma to help keep his personality as accurate to the og story. Not sure if Jabber gets a backstory since we still don’t know really anything about his past and I don’t want to make smth up out of thin air if we learn about it and it’s so far off). Also, I aged up Jabber and Zanka by two years cause I ain’t making it super freaky when Zanka is still a minor, so it’s 19 year old Zanka x 20 year old Jabber(one year difference still)
If any of this seems ooc for anybody pls let me know so I can correct, cause again, I’m not a professional and the only other fic I wrote is a drake x kendrick one so….

Jabber has always been popular, it’s just how he is. Ever since he was a baby, he always had a charm that seemed to attract everyone, gaining him attention wherever he went.
Sure, some people hated him or disliked some of the things he did, but negative attention is still attention after all, and that’s all that matters to him. This is how his life has been since he was born, always showered with love or hate — until he met him, the only person who ignored him completely, like he doesn’t exist, which lit a fire in Jabber, something he’s never felt before, and soon decided he would do anything to gain his attention.

It’s zanka’s first day at a new collage, and he can’t seem to figure out where his dorm is, but he doesn’t feel like talking to people to figure it out, and instead looks for a map.
He switched schools half way through his freshman year due to one of his dads(enjin) needing to move for work, which he was used to.
Zanka was never the social type, partially because he was always moving from one place to another and couldn’t be bothered to make connections with people that he would never see again in a few months, and he was perfectly fine with that.
He didn’t like talking to people much either.
The only people he cared about is his family, and saw any other relationship as unnecessary; unfortunately, the downsides of avoiding people is that he doesn’t have the social skills to deal with them, and right when he figured out where his dorm was, and saw his new roommate, he knew he was in for a long fucking ride.

“Yooo new roommate! Haven’t seen you around campus before tho, you new?”
Zanka already had a headache from walking around in the sun all day carrying his heavy bags looking for the dorm, and the sound of his new roommate’s loud ass mouth irritated him a lot. So he did what any unsociable person would do, ignored him.
Jabber seemed to be a bit put off after being so blatantly ignored by some random dude he’s never met before.
“Yo, you deaf or somthin’ cause I’m sure as hell I just asked you a question.”
Zanka ignored him again, setting his stuff down into the empty room and slamming the door behind him.
“Fuck you too??” Jabber said. In all his 20 years of life, he’s never met someone who just ignored him, especially not some stranger.
(Next day)
Zanka woke up feeling pretty refreshed, the dorm beds were pretty nice compared to his old school, and the room itself was pretty spacious.
He slowly creeped out of bed and decides to go out of his room to get something to eat, and boy, what a mistake that was.
As soon as he came out, his roommate was standing right besides the door seemingly waiting for him to exit his room, grinning wider than what seemed humanly possible, and Zanka has the worst feeling of dread wash over him, so right then and there, Zanka decided to ignore that weirdo for as long as he’s staying at this school.
“Looks like mister bad attitude finally woke up” says Jabber, still with that grin plastered on his face.
Ignored
“Feel like talkin’ to me today or is that stick still as far up your ass as it was yesterday?”
Ignored again
“Come on man, I ain’t asking for much, just a simple hello, my name is, blah blah blah will do.”
No response
This went on for the whole morning. Jabber pestering Zanka, and Zanka completely ignoring him, and when it was finally time for class, Zanka got out of the dorm as fast as he possibly could.
*What the hell is his problem?* Zanka thought

(During lunch)
Zanka brought food from home. He never enjoyed the lunch food since he was such a picky eater(though he would always try new foods if Gris was the one making them, he never seemed to be able to turn him down), and he decided to go sit down when he saw a read headed girl wave over to him, beckoning him to go sit by her, and as he unfortunately saw no other empty seats, he obliged and walked over.
“Your name’s Zanka right? I’m Riyo, pretty sure we have English and chem together!”
She seemed super energetic and quite talkative, though unlike the guy he was unfortunately assigned to be roommates with, she was a lot warmer and welcoming, and pretty easy to talk too.
“Not sure, never really payed attention to who was in my classes. I’ll take yer word fer it though”
She smiled, “so… what brings you to a small collage like this in the middle of the semester? We barely get any transfer students and even more rarely have them transfer at the time you did.”
Zanka sighs, less of an annoyed sigh but more of a defeated sigh.
“My dad’s move around a lot due t’work. Been this way since I was a kid. I’ve asked them so many times if I could jus’ do online school but they insist talking with people and socializing is important, even though I never had the time to really make any friends.”
She look’s at him with a slight smirk that worries Zanka.
“so you’re telling me your entire life, you’ve never had a single friend, just been alone forever?”
He just looks at her for a moment, face full of shock.
“…That’s that all you got out of that!?”
She laughs, letting out a wheeze while pointing at zanka’s face.
“YOUR FACE” she chokes out, “ITS HILARIOUS YOU GOTTA SEE IT”
She continues to laugh while taking out her phone and quickly taking a photo of him.
“Hey, delete that now!!” He flushed
She just kept laughing, looking at the picture and back at Zanka, though, despite this, he couldn’t find it in him to really get mad at her and cracked a slight smile.
“Delete it or I’ll break your phone myself!” he teased, and this playful banter went on for a while, weirdly naturally, like siblings who do this all the time- until he heard his voice.
Chapter end notes:
I love the Riyo/Zanka sibling dynamic sm, so I wanted to introduce that into the story too. I hope this wasn’t too boring as a first chapter, and it was pretty short too, but again, not a professional here, I’m also just kinda making stuff up as I go hoping that it works so… yeah. Advice is appreciated!!!
