hey! are you from north Africa? Cause I am :D. I started German but I soon dropped it for Russian and I'm still struggling with katakana. Japanese is easy (we're not talking about Kanji)
Also, the more language you know the harder it is to remember which word is from which language. I, for example, can start talking in French and oops here's English and hey! why are am I talking in Russian? and did I just use a Japanese word?!!! (for some reason I don't miss with Arabic) It's a nightmare, believe me! but it's fun.
exhausted-san, Can I get any tips on Russian? the words are just so hard to remember!

Yeah i am :D i'm actually studying german as a subject in school so i just have to understand even if i'm not that into it or my grades will drop.
And i totally understand the confusion when you know many languages especially with French and English since they have very similar words, my dialect is pretty heavy with French words so it's normal but sometimes i feel like i can't express something in it so i find myself putting random words from whatever language that pops to mind and there you go a total mess.

You're quite lucky to be studying German, I always wanted to learn it but self-teaching, especially from scratch, just wasn't working for me. In what year are you?

Fourth year of secondary study, in other words i'm 18. If you're famaliar with Tunisia's education system you'd know how important this year is in determining one's future but here i am reading manga instead of studying :(
BTW where are you from?

I'm from morocco, I think we all follow the french education system, no? and yeah I know how important that year is, it's either you get accepted in a prestigious school and your life will sail smoothly or you go to some university to suffer fro the diplomat that you just hang on the wall (or put under the pillow). When I was your age (21 now) I remember Honto Yajuu updated the day before the finals, I don't know why I thought that checking new updates was a good idea but it sure felt like it and since IT WAS HONTO YAJUU I sat down and read my update but boy, I love that mange so much so my mind came up with an even better idea and that it is to reread the whole thing (4 volumes I think at that time) NO REGRETS!! I got my Bac with mention "tres bien" :D

But how good, on the other side, to have such a wide range of linguistic skills! I envy you a little. With such a basic knowledge, you'll surely be able to learn many more languages easily because your brain is used to the difficult process required to skip from one language to a completely different one! To learn arabic was an old dream of mine, but I never managed to courage to give it a try.

I grew up speaking Russian and couple other east European languages and didn't start learning English until I was about five. This wouldn't have really been an issue accept for the fact that I was born and raised in America. Americans are pretty rude about language barriers.

Since then I've been studying French and Japanese. French is pretty difficult for me, but Japanese isn't too bad (although it's very different from anything else I know).

Long story short, some languages are bound to be more difficult. I find if I watch something in another language often enough, I start to pick up words subconsciously. Maybe try watching German anime dubs? I know you can find disney movie clips in German dub on youtube.
