I don’t have dogs, but I have cats and I’ve either given them foreign names, anime character names (which are also foreign to me) or names based on how they look.
For example, I have a tortoiseshell cat, so her name is Torti.

Imo colours are always a good option, either in your native language or foreign! Or shortening colours for cute nicknames. Food names are cute as well, my aunt has a dog called pasta but then again yelling pasta down the street is a bit odd but still cute! reply
