Science denial
I am so tired of people thinking they know better than professionals when they don't even have basic knowledge on the topic.
I'm a student in dental hygiene who recently argued in a YouTube comment section with a guy who had said that if fluoride was effective, we wouldn't be seeing such high rates of gum illnesses in the population. Not what fluoride is for. Not even close. I took the time to explain why, but no reply. Then another person jumped in. They were on my side, but claimed fluoride only works when ingested and not through topical applications like toothpaste. Not true. I had to correct them too, but still: no reply. No reply to me, but the two bozos keep arguing with each other for days. Misinformation against misinformation.
Not really related, but this reminds me of when I was in school and this girl who sat across me said that she didn’t believe salmonella existed because she never got it before…

I can't stand pseudoscientific bullshit but I'm a firm believer of the fact that not eating refined sugar and processed food does more for dental health than brushing your teeth. Half of the people aren't even brushing properly, not even rinsing their mouths with clean water after meals and eat garbage everyday, ofc y'all gonna get tooth decay and ...... 3 reply

Because people are complete idiots, and honestly I don't know where they get their sources from. I remember commenting under a comment section where the video talked about architecture and ugly buildings. Tell me why do people think that the people involved with construction or design in the buildings or even City planning want shit to look ugly or...... 1 reply
