lwhy do korean bl manhwa creators seem way more vocal and upset about piracy compared to jp mangakas
because ive seen jp mangakas personally reach out to scanlators and politely ask them to take their manga down, no drama or public callouts at all. i even saw a yuri mangaka repost a panel of her own work on twitter, surprised and happy that people overseas loved it even though there’s no official english release yet, and she didn’t get mad about it at all but tbh it's pretty understandable to be upset if something you worked on for years gets posted illegally imo but why does it feel like korean manhwa creators, especially in bl, are way more vocal and intense about this compared to japanese mangakas?
lowkey i’m just wondering what the real difference is between these situations. i’ve never seen a jp mangaka go on twitter and tell illegal readers to off themselves (maybe it’s bc i’m not that active on twitter, idk? but it’s definitely not as common these days as with manhwa creators).
and if you’re gonna say “bc they upload chaps every week!” shueisha has official eng releases weekly too, kinda like lezhin, tho shueisha don't translate bls lmao their works still get uploaded on illegal sites. but i’ve never seen a shueisha jp mangaka curse their illegal readers. also, let me mention i actually like shueisha better than lezhin or others. AGAIN they don’t translate bls, but imo it’s a better reading experience. if you just follow the manga, you don’t have to pay at all but if you haven’t read it before and wanna catch up that might seem impossible you have to pay but every new updates are free to read! LIKE LITERALLY THEY ARE FREE!
japanese people are well known for being respectful. I don't know anything bout koreans though but mangaka’s being so chill abt it is not rlly something new and their works are much better. 3 reply
