If you are panicking please read

I see a lot of people freaking out so I’m just going to make a compilation of everything I currently see people asking about the list situation;

What happened to the want to/reading/read lists?

Lists are currently gone, and this is due to most likely an issue or corruption with one of the data disks.

Are they gone forever?

No. I and many others have experienced this issue once before; the lists were restored after some hours. That being said, please keep in mind that this is not a confirmation; this is the unfortunate side to any tech related issue like this. When something goes wrong theres always I chance it’s impossible to retrieve the data, so while I have confidence in the devs, please keep that in mind.

Is this a sign mangago is going down like b?

Again, this has happened before; there are a lot of periods of time the website goes down (without the lists disappearing) and comes back up. It happens at least a few times a year. The site may very well be experiencing issues due to people attacking it, so I ask people to refrain from name dropping the sites in any way people can find it or specify which. I personally use a mango emote when referring to this site, if you must mention it outside of private spaces. But even then it’s better to keep it hush hush. Fight club rules.

As a finishing note, take this as a sign to start transferring your favourites to another platform, be that another site or something like an excel spreadsheet. Back ups of any kind will save your life.

Update 14/02/26: There’s been a fair few changes since I originally made this post; it’s seems like the only series that are able to be restored was anything rated. I am unsure about the exact reason, but from my understanding it probably means the rest of the data from saved but unrated series is unsalvageable. I am just a humble user, and therefore have no contact with the devs, so I’m not sure if there are any plans to continue the restoration effort.

What can you do now?
I highly recommend filtering through tags to start rebuilding your lists; from my experience it’s easy to use tags created by users (they should be under the episodes). Another good option which I recommend anyway, is making a back up list on another site, coping series into an excel spreadsheet is a good idea as well. I’m sorry this isn’t a happy update, but I felt it wash important to edit this.
