Manhwa readers hate imperfect victims
I'm going to use the remarried empress as an example (yes i know this story as been talked to hell and back) even the people who acknowledge Rashta as a victim spare her little sympathy for one reason or another, oh she's manipulative and she's naive at the same time, she's not a good mother despite the fact she had little chance to even try to be one and she's greedy because she wanted something above her status and to that i say! female characters shouldn’t have to be a “smart kind pretty queen girlboss” to be liked, and to be acknowledged as victims. let female characters have flaws, let female characters be mean and vicious or have a terrible personality, let them show weakness and cry over their trauma and let them make excuses for their actions even if they're bad, because that's how a human mind works. LET FEMALE CHARACTERS HAVE REALISTIC REACTIONS TO THE SYSTEMS THEY'RE A VICTIM OF. Send tweet

Theres people who say amo’s SA/grooming backstory didnt excuse her almost killing the cleaners when her mental state was absolutely deteriorated after being groomed and raped her entire life. Ngl it took me a video or her perspective to give her a good amount of sympathy. Like she was a slave and got pregnant so young by these weird ass nobles who took her in and that’s all she knows that face and her body is useful for her survival. She’s not educated nor had the freedom like the queen MC and have no one to trusts cause all the men...... reply
I didn’t know that TRE was the subject of such discourse; I dropped that crap early on. And I did like Rashta as a character though I thought it was because I was a contrarian and everybody in the comments back then was calling her TRASHTA. I see what you mean, but in Rashta's case I think its a problem of the writing failing to make the character compelling, not the audience reaction. As an example, I suggest you take a look at My Mother Got Married by Contract for instance. The mother in that story is arguably one of the worst mothers I've ever seen in manga (which is arguably worse...... 1 reply
