Idk maybe because they're adults who can separate fiction from reality and might like the character due to their appearance, the dynamic or their attitude. Besides, they don't need deeper meaning to like or ship themselves to a character. They're fictional, it'll never happen.

I think people who simp for them or what not should actually see someone for it cause liking behavior like that indicates some things.
