I just had a mindblowing realization
You know the phenomenon where female kpop idols who show a little skin or do something a little bit sexy get so much shit for it from female fans, but male kpop idols who do the same thing, get thirst comments?
it's because women don't watch female idols because they like them as idols.
they watch them because they want to become them.
but with men, they simp for them, so they don't mind thirst traps.
sure, it's a little more complicated than that, but fundamentally, the reason why female kpop idols get so much shit from female fans for doing the most harmless things ever is because those female fans are the types of people who don't behave in said way.
so the second they deviate, they go insane.

Korea is pretty conservative and places alot of importance into looking and behaving “proper” (and this standard is pushed more onto women), so acting promiscuous is frowned upon while a pure and innocent image is praised. ...... 2 reply
I think male K-pop idols hate on women K-pop idols more than the female fans themselves since they sort of push their wants in a relationship onto the idol and pretend that they are dating. But that happens with guys too so yeah reply
It was commonly known, if I remember right one idol was cancelled for raising HER flag. That's not even an issue, she raised her own country's flag yet she got forced to apologize.
