Trauma in characters
I feel like it's just me but I feel as if trauma in characters have slowly gotten a little.. Too far? I mean, I understand rape and sexual assault is a serious topic to speak about and should be made aware of.. But I feel as if every character these days have been either been sexually assaulted or was touched as a kid. I know this is such a non issue but I feel like a lot of people are downplaying the seriousness of the topic sometimes and just add it because they couldn't think of a good way to develop their character
I don't think it's the fact that a lot of characters have it that is the problem, it's more the fact that it's not treated seriously. If it wasn't used as just a thing that the character has gone thru but touched in a more serious light it wouldn't be a big problem. Like a lot of romance manhwa will have the female MC get assaulted and then to be s...... 1 reply
true, there's literally a lot of things a human can be traumatized of, we're complex being after all. its so uncreative (shout out to BL stories) 1 reply
this reminded me of the book "a little life" (my n1 opp) lol. author jam-packed so much trauma into a single man and hes still somehow a gary stu. like. this ain't the representation I was looking for.
Also bl authors who just write their own mc suffering for 100+ chapters (Even If You Don't Love Me, im looking at you) at the hands of every goddam...... 1 reply

As controversial this take may be but I wholeheartedly agree. Some people don't even put TW on their videos anymore and just shove it in your face describing the details sometimes even so to a 100% like wtf I don't need to know that. SA is very common but most of these people just do it for the shock factor or attention. They don't portray it well....... reply
Frrr. I think authors sometimes just use it as an easy way to give characters trauma and not add any real depth or thought to it slowly making people take it less seriously. The only good way I’ve seen sa portrayed correctly is with amo from Gachiakuta, every thing else has lowkey just been slop. I wish authors would stop doing this and realize t...... reply
I concur. I think the authors saw how popular the stories on "black flags" were and they thought they should take that route to and capitalize in it. Not much thought goes into writing these days. reply
