Thoughts on Fujoshis, Yaoi, and Fetishization?
ik im probably going to start a fight but i'd like to hear ur thoughts. if ur just going to come in and say 'no, yaoi is / is not fetishization, period' and then not provide any reasons to your claim then wtf was the purpose of answering.
it depends on the person. if you can't understand the difference between fiction and reality to the point where fiction warps your real-world viewpoint then yes sure yaoi is harmful.
but to most people, yaoi is just a fun romance story. everyone has different reasons for liking and reading bl. just like shoujo and yuri, yaoi is always an unrealisti...... reply
Well, let's start off easy: fetishizing LGBT+ people and their experiences in any media form(fictional/non-fictional) is disgusting and extremely harmful to real people. It warps the perspective of those outside the minority group about the experiences someone may have.
As someone who is a gay man, BL/yaoi has been a very powerful tool in helping ...... 2 reply
Personally as someone who reads bl I don’t consider myself a fujoshi. Mainly because I read yaoi and yuri for the gayness (as someone who is pansexual) and I’m not reading for the specific gender. It just so happens that yaoi tends to have better story lines than yuri (which is unfortunate) and yaoi is more common. Also the reason I don’t cal...... 2 reply
As a person who read yaoi as escape from reality, it's a place where I read about character I can relate even tho I'm straight (more asexual, plz don't come for me). I'm not saying that some people who like yaoi doesn't fetishes m/m relationship, but yaoi itself shouldn't be label as m/m fetishation (idk if this spell right). It's the people who re...... reply
IMO yaoi/bl is just content of mlm romance and a Fujoshi is just a woman who enjoys that content. Nothing in the definition of a Fujoshi says that they fetishized mlm couples. That doesn’t mean fujoshis cant fetishized gay men (they can we seen it before) I’m just saying that it’s not part of the definition. For my thoughts on yaoi in genera...... 2 reply
not a problem for me. is really the same of straight men watching lesbian porn and fetishizing them. to be honest, im tired of the fight of "you should not fetishize people", because that will happen no matter what. as a bisexual man, i will fap to straight, gay and lesbian porn and feel not sorry for that. i don't understand why people only compla...... 2 reply

1. Fujoshi => they are kinda like a sad case for me. Years before I was so proud of proclaiming to be one. But as years go by (reading BL genre for 7 years).. It is hard for me to be lump in the same group and realized... I am not like them.
PROBLEMS (of some or most)
1. Shipping straight boys in other forms of media (anime) and in real...... reply
tbh as long as youre not reading just bcs its gay sex then i think its alright it becomes a problem when its all about top/bottom sub/dom seme/uke dynamics i hate hearing about seme uke bcs its not really a thing and thats where the fetishization comes in 1 reply
I see how people see it as fetishization as someone whos read yaoi for the past few years I've read some real weird shit that just makes you question so many things. But i also think this weirdness can be in any kinda thing with sex in, like how hentai can be questionable or yuri or porn. But i do see how it can be fetishization but I feel like it'...... reply
