Turning [BL KR Novel]

koo koo 2026-05-08 19:07:29 About thinking about bl

have you ever feel like you want to like something so bad bcs you just know that it will be good (you even got spoiled and all) so you want to fully experience it for yourself but turns out you can’t even comprehend shit.

bcs that’s what this novel did to me.

and yes, as a book / novel lover, i’m devastated.(for the dramatic effect)

this was supposed to be a full novel reading experience but for the love of god, i can’t go through this novel after several (hundreds) attempts ㅠㅠ

the genre, the art (for manhwa adaptation), the plot, everything is so well done but the writing is really, really dragging with thousands of information.

i started to read this novel on March and it’s freaking May now but i just got up to chapter 101 and just scrolling the novel with no interest anymore.

first of all, there’s tooooo many characters (and they’re being too much too). there’s too many different side characters and i can’t even act nonchalant and be like “yeah they’re just side characters so their roles won’t be important” yet somehow…SOMEHOW, the authors keeps giving these “supporting” / side characters more screen times and with perfect backstories as well (which i really don’t appreciate)

it’s making me distracted so much bcs how am i supposed to remember more than 10 side characters that will keep coming in and out of the novel until chapter 1000+ ?? i literally just got on chapter 101 jesus and even that got me distracted per paragraphs, i ended up getting sleepy every single time and closing the ebook in less than 1 hour.

p/s: i can finish a novel with 300+ chapters within 2-3 days just fine. if the novel is really, really made me interested, i can finish hundreds or thousands chapters just fine.

i really want to like this novel and i really want to finish it up but again….for the love of yaoi masters i fully give up on this one ㅠㅠ i should’ve known that me blatantly putting this novel on hold for almost 3 freaking years was a sign.

a BIG red sign.

kinda sad bcs i’m looking forward to review this novel but seems like i would have to just forget about this novel altogether for the sake of my sanity.

farewell, Turning. watching clips of their edits on TT ease the pain and frustrations in my little head ㅠㅠ

double p/s: read my post lightly as it’s not that serious i was just being dramatic bcs i want to read this one so bad but the novel is….really not it for me.

I'll be honest, unless you feel like you can read a story consisting 1400+ chapters or mentally prepared for it, you really shouldn't start. It only feels draining otherwise (coming from personal experience with other stories).
I loved this novel but that it is to say it does feel kinda wtf in beginning. The novel itself might feel like boring until it hits 200 chapters. My personal opinion is that the individual chapters are pretty short thus there are currently 1400+ chapters. While reading the novel so many times I've felt that some of the chapters should have been combined into one.
I would highly suggest to start off with the manhwa if someone hasn't already started on with the novel. Since you're already at 100+ chaps, it's no use. Manhwa stops around 101 chapter.

But you know what? I still think you should try out the manhwa (if you haven't already).. not right away of course, since it has put you in a fatigue but in future when you feel like it. Who knows, you might actually like it.
I am saying this because I have a friend who also struggles with if there are too many characters with importance. She told me once that it helps her feel out the character or remember them if they have a face, colours or something substantial associated with them.
Even then I would like to emphasize that the manhwa is very short it doesn't even have all the important characters introduced yet. They are pretty important going forward and this is not a typical yaoi with minimum plot and maximum smut, not to mention it's a slow burn.
The author actually doesn't info dump on you in one go either. they give the info gradually as the story progresses. So, it is important that you don't skim through the chapters. They gives you a piece of info in the passing like a hint or rather foreshadowing and it might become relevant way later. [I wish I could annotate the story while reading]
This is why I would genuinely recommend to read when you're prepared, otherwise it becomes tedious (again, speaking from personal experience and why I haven't read Lord of the Mysteries yet).

Honestly, these stories are a hit or miss, no in between. That is to say, I still hope you like it. Happy reading!

oh i love your opinions bcs i do relate to some of it! i read a lot of novel specifically consisting of 100+ to 1000+ chapters. but i think the big brakes for me is the fact that it’s still ongoing. for example, i finished a 1009 novel chapters just fine before, it’s works just fine.

i started to binge reading Turning bcs i don’t want to be left behind seeing how it’s still ongoing and it’s already half to 2000 chapters, i definitely wouldn’t want to read any novel with 2000+ chapters bcs ain’t no way my attention lifespan can survive that but yeah i can handle below 2000! ^^ i started it off with manhwa actually! under this reply, i told other commenters that i’m the type of a person that will choose novel before manhwa if ik that there’s an adaptation bcs i understand things better through pure writings.

but for Turning, i can’t comprehend the novel mainly bcs even at the beginning there’s already a lot of characters that played a big role. most novel started out smooth, focusing only on MC and then ML before gradually panning to side characters. but imo Turning is not like that. i said it feels like there’s too much information bcs i have to remember and understand more than 2-3 characters even at the beginning and what worse is they stayed throughout the novel, not just the usual support roles that are not that important in most plots and disappear in the middle of the story yk? ㅠㅠ

that’s one of the reasons why i feel burdened to keep going bcs i know their romance is good, the plot is well written but it feels like i’m not reading a well structured novel at all. it feels like i’m reading a big mass of a thick, poetry book instead. it drags and drags and drags, giving every single details their own highlights and this is how i found out that not all good written novel can be good for you.

what i mean is a normal novel will explain 2 scenes within 4-5 simple paragraphs. but for Turning’s author, 1 single scenes has to be conveyed deeply and in great details until it reaches 5 paragraphs (just an example tho). so my brain just can’t keep with that lol.

that’s so long i’m so sorry but i really appreciate your insight!!! if the manhwa ever comeback from the long hiatus, i’ll try to read again ^^

It’s fine, no need to force yourself :)) You can keep up with the plot through TikTok edits and spoilers and try the manhwa again since I think they’ll pace things a bit quicker there. I tried reading passion (the manhwa) but I just couldn’t get into it. It seems to be a well liked favorite of many people but I’ve tried multiple times and just don’t care about any of the characters enough to keep going. Different issue, but I dropped it for my sanity and stopped forcing myself with it. You’re reading for your own pleasure, so if you don’t find something enjoyable, regardless of how well liked or objectively good it is, there’s no need to push yourself. Everyone has different preferences, you’re allowed to drop things for any reason or no reason at all ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

totally understandable on your part tho bcs Passion’s genre is heavier yet fast paced! i just got disappointed this time bcs people said that it’s good and i even got hooked in through the manhwa adaptation as well.

i’m the impatient type and can process things more clearly once i read hence why if ik that it’s an adaptation, my first choice will always be the novel before manhwa. so it just frustrates me when manhwa is stuck on who knows how long hiatus and i can’t focus on novel with too much information so sadly i just have to drop both ㅠㅠ

but alas thank you sm for your input and kind words

Ngl I just gaslight myself into understanding what’s happening lol I remember reading lord of the mysteries (has more than 1000 chapters) and I can barely remember much of what I read. Anyway It’s okay to feel sad or disappointed about not being able to get into the novel it’s totally understandable :,D

lmaooo i tried it too! at some point i was on C80+ and was like “lemme take a big leap just to see how it goes” and jumped to almost 90. i kid you not once i read the new chapter it was like…an experience of reading another novel bcs why is it suddenly different? and that forced me to started from 80s again.

before this most of those novel that bored me will have me skipping several chapters but even that still gave me a sense of reality and i can still grasp the plot and remember shits. but with Turning? hell no. i just got humbled every single so it’s time to raise the flag. i appreciate your words tho, thank you sm
