will yaoi get in the way of my studies
ok so everyday i read or watch yaoi. yaoi novels, manga, drama, drama cds.. whatevs. i also go as far as to buy physical copies of yaoi to bring with me, doesnt matter where, i carry it. its gotten like to a point if i dont see two men french kissing on my screen i wont function properly. but i feel like ive been TOO fixated on yaoi and schools a month away and im so fucking scared my fixation on yaoi will hinder my academic performance since ever since i started to read yaoi (circa 5yrs ago?) i barely even try in school like for th past 2yrs every mid-semester i just give up and read yaoi on my phone (with wifi from my friend's or the school wifi) and its not like i get bad grades, i get like a 3.7-4.0 gpa easily since i do well on tests and projects n shit BUT LIKE IM LITERALLY GRADUATING CAN I STILL KEEP THIS UP???
honestly it sounds like a bit of an unhealthy addiction. it's good that ur doing well in school at the very least.
but yeah this applies to everything, if u find that ur spending more time thinking abt yaoi, projecting yaoi onto people, neglecting responsibilities in favour of yaoi, etc, then you're in a bit too deep. maybe u can try setting limit...... 1 reply
Yes it will. In university, you cannot afford to barely try—it takes legitimate work. I also barely tried when I was in highschool (until I took AP courses) and I found out quick that I had to really lock in to keep my GPA high.
The best way to get over it is to go cold-turkey. Put everything in places you can't reach it (like your friends hous...... 1 reply
Yeah girl im gonna hold your hand when I say this, that sounds like hard addiction. It would be best to reduce screen time period and socialize more. Genuinely it will help. Though, I'm not the type who would suggest going stone cold-turkey. I have ADHD and I need little treats of dopamine in-between work to keep going, otherwise I'll shut down or ...... 2 reply
coming from an undergrad in uni rn with a rigorous schedule yes unfortunately u need to regulate ur yaoi consumption or the consequences will hit u sooner or later js lock in and if u have some free time like on a weekend u can treat urself to some yaoi reply
While logically, the best advice is to stop. I say that you should just keep doing it. But make kt a reward system. I get good grades too, like 7s and 8s in the IB system but I read yaoi like everyday before bed or before going to school. I just do my stuff first then leave 1-3 hours of free time for yaoi
TLDR: It's fine. You can do it. reply
Read yaoi where the main characters are productive, for example semantic error, idk seeing the characters locking in will definitely help you lock in.
Or like other ppl suggested use it as a reward reply
Girl same, I wouldn't say it's the same extend though. In your case, as some said it's seems like it became a unhealthy addiction. I know it will be hard to let go on bad habits ( not that reading yaoi is bad) but it seems like you're are too fixated into the world of yaoi that you completely becoming more and more out of touch of the reality. It's...... 2 reply
It probably will, I had to sacrifice my otome games to survive this school year. It's not for the weak, my advice is practice time management it's a real life saver reply
