Sometimes I wonder what is mine? Not in a possessive or ownership way, but simply what originates from my own being.
A lot of the things I truly enjoy, or feel passionate about aren’t simply things I came along. My love for Manga was something my brother passed onto me. My love for music is from my dad. It makes me wonder what can we consider idk, our own? Even romantic desires and kinks are usually something you come to share with a partner of yours and it just sticks ya know? You date a girl who wants to peg you and then boom you’re stuck with it. Are we just like a random mix of traits we inherited from people who are no longer in our lives? Are our interests just ghosts we haven’t exorcised from our lives? Can’t make heads or tails of this.
Yes and no. Humans are by nature social beings, so of course you learn through imitation and validation. But that doesn't mean innovation doesn't happen.
