I don't subscribe to traditional gender roles but I'm also aware that plenty of same sex couples use those terms just to describe their dynamic which I don't see an issue with? Some feminine guys might prefer "wife" simply because it's a feminine term. Some people find it cute. Making dinner and vacuuming the house for a day and getting called "wifey" by your partner can just be cute and not mean much was just my point. Taking care of the house every once in a while doesn't make you "submissive" if you aren't financially dependent. Some people use that nickname for each other just as a term of endearment. A lot of the time there's no bad intent behind it, but it can definitely be used pejoratively. It all depends on the people's dynamic and intent. I much prefer "house husband" myself but I've seen "male wife" used in a funny way that I don't tie myself up in knots about it as a woman.
I saw the Mother's Day post you're referring to and the only dude that was posted was the omega from LTiT and they got rightfully dragged for it (again a heteronormative genre so it's stupid but is it surprising?).
