Genuine question
btw, i'm NOT making this post to drag the user who had this opinion, just so we're clear
i just genuinely want to know what everyone else thinks about it.
Do yall actually think there are users here who think they're celebrities?
Do yall think there are users who treat those same people like they're "gods"?
Because i genuinely don't think so, and that was basically the point i was making when I replied to that user.
I honestly don't know if people here have been in other online communities besides this one, but i feel like there are a few things people are misunderstanding:
Just because someone is in every discussion, answering questions, and giving their opinion on everything doesn't make them a celebrity. That's literally the point of discussion threads: to discuss things. Every user here has every right to give their opinion on whatever they want.
The fact that one user, or a group of users, interact with each other a lot doesn't make them morally superior, doesn't make them a "gang", and doesn't make them celebrities either.
If you've spent time in online communities, this literally ALWAYS happens. People find others they vibe with, so of course they're gonna interact more because they like talking to each other. That doesn't automatically make them separate from everyone else, or some exclusive clique or "gang" like i've seen people imply. That's literally what communities are for.
Another thing is that, logically, if a user is always around participating in everything, people are obviously gonna recognize their username more easily because... they're everywhere??
That's just how familiarity works. It doesn't make them a celebrity, and it doesn't make the people who recognize them "glazers" either.
Another thing I wanted to bring up, and i genuinely don't know if it's true, is the claim that there are users who can say questionable or disagreeable things and people will just glaze them no matter what. Personally, i haven't seen that. The only examples i've seen people bring up have been over really dumb or extremely minor things that honestly felt ridiculous.
I also don't know if there are users who make everything about themselves. I personally haven't seen that either.
Maybe that used to happen before i joined, but from the time i've been here, i genuinely haven't seen anything like that.
but yeah, I'm just curious tho
