Do you like open endings??
I was reading "Behind scenes" rn, and people are freaking out bc they just threaten us with an open ending; I don't really like open endings, but is not really something that pisses me off, I just think is the way the author has to tell us that they can't decide how to end the story w/o annoying its public (something MANY writers should have in mind tbh).
I don't mind a bit of uncertainty, but if the ending is just completely left open to interpretation I find it annoying. Like I want an author to say something with their work, and open endings can make that feel kinda wishy washy. U can be vague or metaphorical with an ending so u have to do a bit of thinking to get it, but at least have SOMETHING ...... 1 reply
Open endings are really hard to be done right honestly, sometimes it feels like a cheap way out without putting an effort into the story
When a story is extreme psychological or very angsty I can get past it, however, romance with open endings 8 times out of 10 is just a way of saying I’m sick of this story I’ve done half of my job so take t...... 1 reply
I only like open endings in short stories (if done well). I really hate when I’ve been following a story for years and the author doesn’t give us a proper conclusion… reply
I hate them with passion, like I want a closed ending not to be unsure of what I just seen. Open endings are just for lazy authors who can't think of a proper ending for their story line. reply
can be beautiful if done correctly. i went through my read list and i did have a hard time finding some, but for example my god (asada nemui) and a shoulder to cry on. but open ending are somehow better in movies tho, like the wailing maybe? reply
