life after high school, how's it going for y'all?
I'm 19 and I dropped out at 17. I am constantly being pushed to find a job or go study and apply to college or uni. I have no desire to do any though. I've always struggled to know what type of job I will have and what to do once I'm an adult. I currently work at a gas station and my parents are furious with me and wants me to find a 'real' job. but I feel comfortable living like this. after job I get back to my small apt and spend the rest of my days there.
You're doing better than the pressure makes it feel, you've got a job and your own place, that's real. Not having a plan at 19 isn't a failure, most people don't figure that out early either. You don't owe anyone a five-year plan on a deadline. It's okay to just be stable for a while. 1 reply
lol, parents are divorced and abusive dad is basically out of the picture. Became severely disabled at age 11 - 12. Dropped out of middle school, tried to attend Highschool. don’t get lost in what others want you to do and what society standards for success are. if you are happy and financially stable, then that’s all that matters. life is long and you’re only 19, most people figure out what they want in their 20s, you’re doing just fine. reply
High school was shitty and I wanted to kill myself lowkey. But college hasn’t been as bad. It’s REALLY hard sometimes, and i definitely still get depressed, and my grades aren’t the best, but at least it’s not high school 1 reply

Hey similar situation! I dropped out at 16 due to extreme mental health issues, and took odd jobs and various courses until I was 19. I just got my high school equivalency this year at 20 lol. I'm 20, and after hs I spent the first year and half doing a ton of internships in my city for the arts, and environmental/aquatic stuff. (I spent my hs yrs being a paranoid shut in who barely managed to graduate, so I have no idea how I managed this...17 yr old me was something)

Nothing wrong with not having a "productive" or "real" job, coasting in life is valid. HOWEVER, please don't do retail / grocery/ warehouse for the rest of your life, it will fuck up your body so bad in the long term reply
Honestly schools are kinda draining and for me school is slowly killing my creativity for arts.
