Most stories nowadays are just copy pasted

I skipped the initial chapters and started reading from chap 30 and trust me, i didnt feel lost AT ALL. I predicted what happened in those 29 chaps, and was right. Its actually lowkey depressing. Its like a dystopia but for manhwas yk? Nothing new, just recycling old stuff so much that all stories start to look the same.

I've been taking it as a consequence of the publishing environment for manhwa/webtoons, and perhaps the adherence to trends that is common in S. Korean media and culture.
I'm hoping that it's just the present state of the industry and is something that it will develop past, because repetitive stories and tropes are generally common within publishing, but the presence of different niches and audiences can drive diversification as publishers chase money in different directions to drive business growth, ideally (lol).

ikr, this is how I feel about 99% of manhwa rn. Like I could skip 20+ chapters and still understand what’s going on… now I just read manhua and novels because they’re more complex and less predictable. Kinda sad too bcuz there used to be a lot of gems releasing each year
