What’s something you used to love but as you matured started losing interest/disliking it? For me, it’s boys over flowers (the manga & drama) and tsundere mc trope. I used to LOVE bof. But as I matured, I realized how toxic domyoji and makino really were after rewatching it 2-3 times and as for the tsundere trope, I just don’t find the appeal in lying about your feelings so the relationship feels one-sided.
any romance that’s set in high school i guess. it just felt so unreal that these children are having the crisis of their life over romance when usually students are struggling with grades at that point in life. but it did feed into the illusion when i was in high school myself, now it just seems so cringy and weird. like watching children trying ...... reply
I remember I used to LOVE yuri, before I even knew what yuri was. I grew up with “Lovestruck choose your romance” and I loved playing female character routes and the cgs of the fmc and the fl together AHHH, it was literally the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen to my lil brain. I didn’t even know it was called yuri was like “wuhluhwuh???...... reply
Tbh I am not surprised that people are saying BL, the series coming out recently are so ass TT I would recommend switching to novels, but you all can’t keep your mouths closed and share site names and links everywhere reply
SHOUJO AND JOSEI.
I used to love it. I still do, just not in the same way.
When I was younger, I didn't really think critically about the media I consumed. If I liked something, I liked it. But as I grew up, I developed stronger opinions and standards, and now a lot of the series I once adored frustrate me because of how deeply heteronormative th...... 1 reply
As for me, it would be child-care story where the kid is a 20+/30+ years old woman reincarnated in a kid's body and don't know how to act their age and the fact that I realized that the family only loved them coz they did something that helps them, I used to like reading it and now I only look for child-care where the kid is really a kid or they sh...... 1 reply
BL. I was recently reading something and suddenly realised that I haven't really read any new BL in over a year. I basically look at a few pictures, click off, then read a few comments, and repeat. Which doesn't really count as reading. I'm sure I'll find interest in it again someday, but for now I'm happy reading other genres or rereading the BLs ...... reply
smut.
I was obsessed with anything smut and finding this site during peak COVID was one of the things that ended up feeding my porn addiction during most of hs,( I would be mostly be reading BLs that were more smut than plot, a few doujins, etc.) But for the past 2yrs, I started to feel very burnout and uncomfortable with getting jumpscared aka jus...... 1 reply
Manhwa in general if im being honest. Yaoi doesnt make me excited to read like it once did when i was younger: the connections between the characters are shallow and dive into smut before any real connection is made, its hard to find good historical nobility stories when the genre is built on repetitiveness and overused cliches, and any action stor...... reply
definitely smut! I saw another user express the burnout & I second that. I also feel like new creators/author’s have been over saturating their works w smut to make up for the lack of plot. I don’t mind smut but I reallyyy just want sweet wholesome romance. reply
