Genuine question
Genuine question, why are people racist or homophobic? I really don't get it. I know some people point to "statistics," but I don't think race or ethnicity determines whether someone's a good person, a bad person is just a bad person, regardless of background.
Is it some kind of moral-superiority complex? There's a saying that fits, "a society of sinners judging others for sinning differently." So genuinely, what do people even get out of being racist or homophobic?
When I see someone of a different color walking down the street, I don't think "ew, they're this or that." I really don't get it, and honestly I'm kind of confused. I have a hard time understanding things and emotions sometimes, but genuinely, what's wrong with having a different skin tone, or being LGBTQ?
I know certain skin colors are treated as a beauty standard in certain countries, and I've heard some people are racist because certain ethnicities or races don't fit those standards. But I think beauty standards are idealistic and nonsensical, I genuinely believe everyone is beautiful in their own way. I think people care too much about what others think. The only way to truly know whether you're attractive is by forming your own perception of yourself. If you think you're ugly, you're ugly. If you think you're beautiful, you're beautiful. Nobody can deem someone else attractive or unattractive, because beauty is subjective, everyone has different views and opinions. But still, I really don't get it, what's wrong with being a different ethnicity or sexuality? What’s your opinions and thoughts on this.
you're thinking at too small of a scale. racism and homophobia are more than just what goes on between individuals or even the culture of a society. individual/group level racism and anti-lgbt+ sentiment/bigotry can be mindsets and feelings at that level but those are smaller parts of larger systems of power and control that facilitate using and ab...... 1 reply
Multiple "reasons." Lack of education is a real main one, but so is insecurity.
Now where does homophobia and racism stem from? Religion , centuries of laws, etc.
Overall, it's really just insecure people wanting to dictate other peoples lives that they have ZERO business in. reply
Oh I’ve been waiting for this one. ONE REASON IS *opens my Marxism notes* Capitalism. I’m a heavy believer that captialism requires racism though I think a lot of scholars would disagree, but after reading educational sources from people like roediger and Freiser, I’m convinced I’m right. Freiser who claims that capitalism doesn’t require...... 1 reply
There's no real reason. They just create a fake reasons to justify their hatred. Most of them also self project onto that person, like for example. Gay men. Straight Men hate on them because they think that gay men prey on all men they see, which we know people have tastes and that's because that's how they think of women. This part is obvious beca...... 1 reply
(Edit: forgot to say this is about Homophobia specifically)
You won't like the answer but plain and simply all the fault lies on religion. But saying that outloud pisses off the majority of humanity because humans REFUSE to progress forward and leave behind something that's neither scientific nor helpful in human evolution whatsoever.

why aren't you racist?
how are you sure what you think is right?
answer that and you'll know why some people are racist.
it's easy for people to say "all humans are equal", harder for people to justify why the everlasting fuck do people need to be equal. what even makes you equal? why do we need to be equal?
do I really need to care if someo...... 1 reply
