“Peak” manhwa
I used to call every mid to mid trash BL “revolutionary” and slap a 5/5 on it. Looking back now? Solid 2s, most of them. That’s exactly why I don’t trust anyone who calls a yaoi “peak”, half these people will call anything peak.
Sad ending ≠ peak. Angst ≠ amazing writing. And “psychological” doesn’t mean peak either, half the time it just means there’s a bunch of rape in it and people mistake trauma dumping for depth.
So, genuine question: what’s a BL you rated 5 stars back in the day that you’d rate way lower now? And what actually changed, the story, or just you? (It doesn’t necessarily have to be a BL I just used it as an example.)
People are gonna hate me for this but in my case it's lost in the cloud. After rereading it I don't even feel like it's romance to be honest. It feels more like a manhwa about social issues. It's good but I feel like Skyler deserves better. Cirrus pissed me off so bad I pulled some of my hair off... The author could of tried solving Skyler's trauma...... reply

OOOOO IVE ACTUALLY BEEN ITCHING TO TALK ABOUT THIS!!!! I've been thinking of Kiraide Isasete as peak for so long, but I fucking forgot that Hazuki and Naoto met while Hazuki is a highschooler and Naoto is the highschool janitor in the beginning. Like actually wtf. Why couldn't they make Hazuki in college at least???? Like???

I’m still looking for that user that said “Roses and Champagne is Peak”. I wanna cussed them out coz I was just beginning my BL journey back then.
GINTAMA and FMAB is the only peak series for me. The rest I categorise them to those I enjoyed.

There were few I would consider peak bls even tho I’m very generous with giving out star ratings here 5/5 for everything mid to good unless there’s something big that throws me off. But after reading No more Eurydice, everything has become a 4/5 in comparison. Even most non bls.

as a long time fan of Litc, i was so upset and disappointed with the last season, so much that litc isn’t my favourite story anymore…

Konya mo nemurenai. Still one of my fave bl but now thinking about it, gave it 5 stars was too much (still solid 4 because of nostalgia).
Cherry blossoms after winter, not 5 stars but I realized the reason why I liked it a lot because back then I just started reading bl manhwa. Now it just alright.
