happiness over money?
i had a debate (?) with my parents and basically it was just how im not happy with my current job and i want change. both of them had a massive go at me and it was all revolving around money and how much i make and how stupid i'd be to drop a job like this.
the thing is i am not happy at all. its draining, i hate it but i was just forced to apply because my mom wanted me too.
i just want to know anyone elses perspective in this situation, am i being stupid? or..
not having enough money will decrease your happiness, but having too much money won't necessarily raise happiness.

Not stupid at all. “Draining” and “hate it” aren’t small things, that’s your mental health talking, and that has a cost too, even if it’s invisible on a pay stub.
You don’t have to choose between happiness and money right now, though. Start job hunting before you quit, build a cushion, have a plan. That way it’s not “leap with ...... 1 reply
i believe that if u hate ur job and it makes you unhappy then you shouldn't force yourself because why waste your life doing something that makes you unhappy, like money is important especially if you need it for rent and living etc but i also think parents dont have a right to force you into something that you dont enjoy especially if theyre still...... reply
My only real suggestion is finding a place you love and live there on just above "float-by salary". Being around a community you find purpose / fun in can help with an un-stimulating / low-wage job (rather you feel meh about it or disgust). This lifestyle doesn't account for investing or building equity, but ngl you just gonna have to give that up....... 1 reply
You're 20, no kids, no dependents. Right now, you are the only person who has to live with your decisions. You might as well explore your options now while the consequences aren't too steep. reply
I’m happy whenever there is more money.
I disliked my job too but since it’s paying well so I tried to find happiness in it.
Are you just working for yourself? If yes, you should find a job that suits you. Make sure to have a sure new job before resigning coz it’s hard to be jobless in this economy. 1 reply
