Yaoi being more acceptable now
Hello everybody so I was reading my daily yaoi and I realized that it’s became more popular than ever imo because during my 6th grade year yaoi was absolutely forbidden in the school by that I mean gay relationships, or anything related to the LGBTQ community would get you judge stares for the school year. So once when I learned my lesson about yaoi I was like ok it’s my and other people secrets since some cracks start to show. But as the years went by I noticed that yaoi is now normalized by both men and women and when I learned that yaoi was acceptable I was full on angry cuz wdym I had to hide it for years just for it to acceptable like y’all I had to suffer in 6th because so many of my classmates were so homophobic asf since my year was shit since, I was labeled the porn kid and hentai kid, I got blackmailed from yaoi for months, I had a identity crisis, nobody wanted to hangout with me, I verge on suicide from this, like the weight of the world was all on me. But now everything I suffered through went away since yaoi is now acceptable so I hate how it’s normalized since people suffered or had problems with it at home or at school. Anyways how do you guys feel with yaoi being more acceptable????
I’m honestly really glad queer media/BL is getting more mainstream, normalization is a good thing, and nobody should have to go through what you went through in 6th grade. That said, I think it’s worth being real about the flip side, a huge chunk of BL/yaoi content leans hard on rape/dubcon tropes, and it’s hard not to notice that a good port...... 2 reply
Not to mention if you called it yaoi a few years ago instead of BL or anything else you would get absolutely tortured on a stick and get doxxed for “fetishizing gay relationships”, nowdays no one seems to gaf 2 reply
Yaoi shouldn't be normalized amongst the youth due to its high sexual content however gay representation in entertainment should be normalized and even with yaoi’s high sexual content I don't think its fair to be harshly judged for it. Theres a lot of media the youth shouldn't be consuming due to it sexual content like most horror films but we’...... reply
i feel v different bc wdym people know YAOI now T_T do u see those yt videos from 17 years ago starting with "warning: male on male action (intense). don't like don't watch" and now heated rivalry is mainstream that actors got to snl. like what?!? im not that old of a fujo but i knew this site since 2019 and omg the newgen fujos are openly talking ...... reply
Quite the opposite for me. I feel like I've gotten more reserved when it comes to BL/Yaoi. I was about the same age when I started too but no one judged me for it and I kinda grew wild. Over time I matured and a couple of small things happened that made me start hiding it. For one, my ex-girlfriend suddenly started judging me for reading BL saying ...... reply
I'm glad it's more accepted now, specifically with straight men because I'm so happy that I get to interact and debate with them without getting called slurs or gay used as an insult. That's like genuinely tough? Yes it's pissing off that the same Homophobes is larping it but hey, I'm gonna say character redemption. People can change views, be more...... reply
