Volume Button not working

I have my Xiaomi pad 5 around 3-4 years now a year ago my volume button was acting weird, sometimes my volume would automatically increase or decrease by itself and I have a feeling it was caused by a tablet case I had. Now the volume button doesn't work anymore so I have to go to settings and adjust it myself but the button itself doesn't work at all it just feels flat and doesn't make a 'click' sound like my power button anymore, when I press it down it justs... press down with no sound or anything. I don't know if I should get it repaired, could there be dust build-up in there or I should now accept it. I don't know if I'm willing to repair it because what if my tablet starts acting weird after I get it sent to the repairs? Also I'm saving up on my money but if I'm ever adviced that it needs to be repaired.. then I'm probably willing to spend some money on it.
