Now, do you know what this animal is?

this is a spotted hyena! Sometimes called the laughing hyena. Their scientific name is Crocuta crocuta. They are some of the most successful carnivorous species on earth, known for their matrimonial society! That is to say, female hyenas take far more importance over male hyenas. They are usually larger and dominate over males. In fact, they have an "alpha female" as the matriarch and their offsprings are directly below them (if they are females) but the males are generally at the dead bottom. And when a male hyena reaches maturity, it leaves it's pack to stop inbreeding and joins another, where it is , again at the bottom. This hierarchy comes in handy when they hunt. Because all the females eat first, and the male hyenas eat last. But their have been cases where a clan is left by makes in the absence of an alpha females though very rare.
So that means, all the hyenas in the lion king films must've been females! Disney should've done more research honestly smh. It would've been so fun seeing female villains in lion king!

Biologically speaking, females f not have an external vagina! They have something called a pseudo-penis which is almost like an inverted actual penis. It is anatomically an erectile clitoris with the birth canal. Their copulation also is entirely dependant on the females. Passive males tend to have greater success in courting females than aggressive ones, If she wants, it can only then happen. But this strange anatomy also makes birthing VERY difficult and physically taxing. And a mature female can give birth to upto 4 cubs!
Anyways, i love these guys because historically, they are portrayed as dirty, neceophous, and gluttonous but in reality, they are FACINATING and teach us a very different behavioural pattern then some of their direct counterparts!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this little rant, and let me know your thoughts!

Ah we're playing animal facts...rolls sleeve
Did you know hyenas possess an anal pouch that secretes a paste known as "hyena butter." They rub this on grass stalks to leave chemical messages that convey exact details about their health, reproductive status, and clan alignment to passing hyenas
Did you also know that following the evolutionary line of hyenas, they're actually more closely related to cats than dogs despite how they look !
And ! Spotted hyenas are actually born with their eyes open and fully erupted teeth, contrary to most animals who are born blind and completely vulnerable! Why? This is due to intense competition for dominance within the matriarchy, as you've mentioned their female dominated society! twin cubs often attack each other immediately after birth, frequently resulting in the death of the weaker sibling, this is also why so male hyenas are a minority, they die easily
This is also separate from spotted hyenas but! There's a special species of hyenas called the aardwolf (yes their also not related to canids despite their name LOL), these guys evolved away from eating meat and bones, instead, they use a long, sticky tongue to lap up insects, consuming up to 300,000 termites in a single night without damaging the colony !!
