I never understood the whole Shutline/Flashlight comparison
Granted, I have not really read much of Flashlight, but the little I read, it never struck me as Shutline jr, and one time I was reading a random chapter of Flashlight and the ML just rubbed me the wrong way that I just gave up on even trying to continue to read it. So now seeing all the discord on Twitter and on here, I guess my gut feeling was correct. I’ve gotten to a point in my life where obsessive types are not to my liking (when it’s presented as a romantic gesture).
The whole discourse dumb af because I refuse to believe out of every single work a person could ‘plagiarize’, they chose shutline. Why would you want your character to look like Jake, that’s character abuse

As a big Shutline enjoyed (I have a cute Shin Plushie from Aliexpress :D), I started reading Flashlight because I saw people comparing them. Now granted im caught up on Shutline but Im only at Chapter 20 in Flashlight. I dont really see the comparison either? Shutline I praise for having a natural and kind of ground to Earth vibe. I honestly tried reading FlashLight multiple times and dropped each time, it wasnt bad or horrible but also isnt the best and I found it a lil boring, dont have alot to say about it.
On the other hand Shutline has been out for a couple of years and since release i have been reading it, just straight up peak, the story, plot, development, growth, a...... reply
