career change

so i've talked to a couple of people about this but kinda got pretty vauge answers, and i don't really want to air all of my business out to people i know ifykwim.

i’m looking to change career paths, but honestly, i have no idea where to start.

i originally planned on going to college years ago, but things never really worked out.. i moved around a lot, my school transcripts got messed up along the way, and eventually i just kinda gave up on the idea. at the time (even now), i also didn’t really know what i wanted to do with my life, so i lacked the motivation to pursue anything in particular.

since then, i’ve worked a handful of different jobs, about half have been physical labor, and the other half have been customer service. at this point, i’m extremely burnt out on both. i know i don’t want to spend the rest of my working life doing either of those things, but i’m having a hard time figuring out what i would enjoy doing instead.

my mother’s husband suggested that i work for the company he’s at cause he's been pestering me saying i should “get a real man’s job.” (despite literally having experience with physical work). aside from the fact that i have absolutely no interest in that kind of work, the environment is also not something i'm comfortable with. he and the people he works with have made it pretty clear that they’re racist and homophobic, and as someone who is openly queer, that’s an absolute no for me.

unfortunately, i also live in an area where job opportunities are pretty limited, which makes figuring out a different path even harder.

so i guess what i'm really asking is what kinds of careers are out there that people actually find enjoyable or fulfilling.. and if anyone has, how'd did you figure out that they were right for you??

i'm open to remote work or in-person work, and i’m also not necessarily opposed to going back to school or getting some kind of certification if i can figure out what direction i want to go in.

the problem is that i don’t really have a specific dream career in mind. i mostly just know that i don’t want to keep doing the jobs i've been doing.

if anyone else has been in a similar position.. especially if you changed careers without knowing exactly what you wanted beforehand i’d really appreciate hearing how you figured it out and what kinds of careers i should look into or how to figure out what i might enjoy cause it seems like i don't have a lot of options..
