I feel like there’s a lot more racism in yaoi these days
Maybe more so colorism or idek the word but I don’t like the rise of “dark skin” x light skin especially when the title is a play on the darker skin guy when usually they ain’t even darker they just have a normal skin tone and just looks darker since everyone else is paper white. I don’t read these types of story’s since the titles already make me uncomfortable but the darker skinned guy usually ends up being abused or made out to be beast like. Idk I wish they could actually include different types poc or just literally add a black person instead of the bs they’re doing rn just to avoid actually having someone of a darker skin complexion. I’d rather them stick to pale white than this half assed attempt at darker skin.

edit since people keep commenting: in all of them there's this pattern where the black character is placed in a vulnerable/disadvantaged position while the white character is always portrayed as the one who comes to their rescue in a way or another. bwat never misses with this

Most if not all manhwas are made in Korea and seeing as to how racist koreans are it's not too surprising to not see any black or poc characters. However I see a few darker toned characters here and there but I don't think they represent any poc, it's just another different toned Korean. So they only draw Koreans.

There is a very well-proven solution to stop this that is much better than just going "I don't like", but if I say it ppl will be mad so like ヽ(ー_ー )ノ.
* I'm too lazy to write out every disclosure needed to get through to make it mildly palatable without sounding like I'm reducing racism to a PR issue ヽ(ー_ー )ノ.
