Love Tropes rewriting
What’s one love trope you wish authors would write differently, and how would you change it?
Personally, I love enemies to lovers, but authors always seem to make it about mafia/yakuza or bullies. I want NORMAL characters who might even have been attracted to each other at first sight, but somehow keep bickering, getting on each other’s nerves, and clashing over everything.
I want to see that tension last for a while before they start falling for each other, not just have them go, “OMG, I might actually be in love with him/her!” after one argument. Like, let them be enemies for a little longer!
What about you guys? Whats trope do you want to change about?
i hate that in fake dating situations the person who needs to look like theyre dating someone chooses the most shy incapable of acting individual they can find. like how interesting would a series be if the character they picked didnt keep SITTING THERE DOING FUCKING NOTHING like i've never seen this trope done well so i'm rewriting it myself 4 reply
see I need bl story where the enemies stays the antagonist and they don't just introduce a newer, bigger antagonist to overlook that specific enemy.
if anything, I want a story where they introduce a newer, bigger antagonist and that antagonist is just a smoke screen for the enemy who is still the main antagonist and was just using them as a scape...... 1 reply
the trope where a victim-type MC escapes from a toxic ML and then the ML gets a bit better and hunts down the MC and they make up... I want to see MC find someone better instead 1 reply
I have mixed feelings about misunderstandings, like it adds a good amount of drama but it gets tiring if its not resolved within like 10 chapter... the maximum. and somehow NONE of them have ounce of communication skills. Like you're telling me that not in ONE romance, one of them just straight up asked the other, "so hey, this happened, am I misun...... 1 reply
In a more subplot since, I low-key wanna see more situations where the char yearning or pining doesn't actually get the person they want and instead have to deal with rejection and limerence. Maybe have the person they wanted get with them, only for the relationship not to work out. I know it's a little counterproductive but maybe romance should ha...... 1 reply
I wish authors would stop using the reincarnated lover trope like it's this beautiful expression of undying love, cuz I always find it icky lol. Specifically where only one of them is reincarnated and the other is like immortal. Or if they're both reincarnated but only one has memories of their past lives. It feels like they love them for who they ...... 1 reply
I have so many and you're gonna hate me for it hahahaha ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
1. The weaponized naivety and making the FL painfully dumb or clueless just to justify ML manipulation, especially in MODERN settings. With smartphones and basic social awareness, she should've been able to spot the red flags from miles away! and in historical setting, since...... 1 reply
I love but also hate enemies to lovers. You cannot realistically have real enemies experience the moments of quiet heart to heart interaction that building realistic love requires. Every time I see enemies to lovers, the hate and dread is so mellowed out its more like highschoolers that got into an argument, even when their backstories are some kin...... 2 reply
