What makes a yaoi attractive?
Okay so after reading a lot of yaoi (both great ones and repulsive ones) I come to wonder about this question. Basically I think that Yaoi/Shounen Ai depict idealistic stories that satisfy people's fantasies and their desire to temporarily escape this mundane world lol. However, I also get the impression that hot scenes, interesting/bizarre themes, or even beautiful art styles themselves can't single-handedly make an attractive yaoi that just lures people to continue to read them (or a great story) -- regardless of whether they are sad or fluffy, predictable or unpredictable, etc.
(this question sort of takes off from my recent experience of re-reading love or hate, and no offense but I just got really bored at the plot and wonder how did the story end up here regardless of having all those exciting elements -- photographer/model, love between brothers, childhood love, beautiful art style, love triangle, etc.
Feel free to provide examples so that I could also get some yaoi recommendations haha! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
I mean let's be real. It's different for everyone. For me, it's story with a good plot, relatable characters, and backgrounds. A beautiful art style, predictable at times but also have insane plot twists. It's gotta make me cry at least once and has to be funny in a relatable way. Yaoi that doesn´t start with rape. (￣∇￣") For me, strong/smart ukes are really where it´s at. The story should have a good plot and not revolve around sex all the time. I like slowburns so the longer it takes for them to fuck, the better. I also love, when the sidecharacters get their story as well and the plot doesn´t really revolve aroun...... 1 reply
the only actual reason i read yaoi is because it's the main place where i can read a manga with a submissive guy. i hardly find any non-yaoi manga where the guy is submissive rather than dominant lmao reply
That’s an intersecting question. For me the most attractive points are: handsome boys, picture of there are lives, sinserety between lovers and range of emotions that seems real. Main plot is important, of course. reply
