“Chivalry” is misogyny
I got into an argument on TikTok so I thought I’d post it here to see what ppl think. All I said was that women play into the patriarchy by wanting men to do everything for the, (holding doors, pumping gas, buying flowers, proposing, etc). It implies that women can’t do things for themselves, and they just need a man to do it for them. Some ppl say that it’s just what men do when they care about their partners, but I think it’s more than that. The men want to feel in control and if a woman was to buy flowers for a man *many* would be appalled. Tbh it’s still treating women like objects, bc they don’t want them to get their hands dirty. A valued object is still an object. What are your thoughts on this?
i think het/bi women wanting men to do all the things you listed is the bare minimum. i understand where you're coming from but you have to take into account the other side (which is quite absent in your point). the other side being the man's side, which is:
men will always have a lot more expectations of women than a woman will ever have for a ...... reply
