Like someone else said, if you can draw the line between reality versus what you see in yaoi then you’re fine. I started reading yaoi when I was 13 but I knew that yaoi wasn’t something I should let influence how I think about things. But you never know who it is around you thats into yaoi. For me BL has more diversity in characters characteristics and plots, though it can be cliché like any genre at times. But a lot of heterosexual characters tend to be repetitive, especially the annoying characters and poorly potrayed female leads that are almost always percieved as weak and senseless in unbelievable ways.
