For me BL has more diversity in characters characteristics and plots, though it can be cliché like any genre at times.
But a lot of heterosexual characters tend to be repetitive, especially the annoying characters and poorly potrayed female leads that are almost always percieved as weak and senseless in unbelievable ways.
