I dont feel like its misogyny like some comments are saying. A large amount of bl audience is straight women reading yaoi, they are attracted to men, and yaoi=hot men. Well the main difference is that it's a TV show and not a manga. TV shows are much more consumable to a larger audience. Its definitely not the epitome of queer romance but I wouldn't call it bad either. you don't see intimacy (especially between men) depicted so vividly on TV as well, so that also garners appeal.
