I'm one of those people who it would be easier to say what I DON'T like, rather than what I do. I'm not very picky, till I am... That being said I think my favorites have to be what I'm going to call the 'blackmail' genre--where one character blackmails the other into sex/a relationship/whatever and then they end up falling for each other for rea......   3 reply

There haven't been many that I've began reading multiple chapters of and then dropped, usually I can tell if I'm going to like something within the first two chapters, if not the first few pages. However, if it happens, it's mostly because of the following reasons: - the art style is not to my taste - poor translation - couple doesn't fit my prefer......   1 reply

Although the rating for both of these are pretty high, their votes are under a 1000 and I really like them so... Vanilla Chocolate Cigarette: A reserved Tsubaki moves to a new town for his job and strikes up a friendship with the gay couple next door. He also manages to strike up a relationship of his own. --I really like the art in this one and ......   reply

I always feel off when the couple is talking about positions and the uke/usual bottom asks to be on top and the seme/usual top laughs it off or immediately rejects it. Like, why even put that shit in there if it was never going to happen? I would've been much more accepting of them just never having talked about it in the first place, or if it too......   1 reply

Mine was Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing, from about when I was 13~15. I used to sneak out of my room to watch Adult Swim when it was on. I would write self-insert fanfiction with him and yet still shipped him with Heero... I actually do not have a crush on a character now, although I think this kid is pretty awesome. But that has more to do with......   1 reply

An aspect that I prefer about Korean manhwa/webcomics is that they are in full color, which helps me better see the action of what is going on or what needs to be focused on. Sometimes the black and white of manga, especially on a computer screen, plays tricks on my eyes--and I don't want to spend five minutes trying to figure out what I'm looking......   1 reply

I have, however, it was not anything romantic. I'm pretty sure I still have it in one of my binders and it was about how the two smartest people in the class were having a contest to see who was nerdier... I am not very comfortable writing/reading smut/romantic fanfic about real people (actors, artists, band members, athletes, etc). I have no pro......   reply

First of all, I'm so sorry you were forced to be in an exchange program, I'm sure that's not helping your anxiety. :( I too get really anxious in social situations, especially with new people in my job where I am expected to be social. I find that preparation helps a lot, having conversation topics ready should there happen to be a lull. If you a......   1 reply

29, female, Caucasian, teacher, USA, fanfic writer I began reading/writing yaoi because I was dissatisfied with the romantic storylines of characters that I liked in anime (then later TV shows), or I felt that two male characters were better suited to each other, or I thought they were hot together...it really didn't matter.   3 reply

I'll add myself to the growing list of people who are not a fan of shotacon. I can handle an age difference when the younger one is at least high school age, but not when they are a literal child. Also, I hate reading anything that involves sadism/torture, whipping, hitting/smacking, anything with the intention of causing pain even in a sexual sit......   reply

I HIGHLY doubt it. I might go through periods where I don't read manga or doujinshi, but I am always writing and reading fanfiction, and have been ever since I was 14. Fanfiction is very much a hobby to me and I will always have ideas and the desire to write them down, even if no one sees them but myself. The people around you call it "pointless"......   reply

I'm going to agree with many other posters here and say: free time. As someone with very limited free-time, how I choose to spend it is very important to me. If I want to laze all day in my pajamas and read manga online, then I can. If I want to binge watch a show for ten hours, I can. If I want to do jack shit, then that's what I do.   reply

Definitely back in high school my friends knew I read yaoi...because a lot of them were reading it as well. I'm pretty sure my brother knows that I like yaoi, however I have never asked him, nor talk about it with him. I keep this part of myself pretty separate from my "public" life, settling for reading it online and posting fanfiction. I have n......   reply

I'm probably going to date myself, but...this year is the first time that I'd ever seen a sex scene from a dj or a yaoi series that "the good stuff" wasn't just a stick of light of X'd out with a bunch of black lines. It definitely took me aback because I had gotten so used to the censors over the years that I didn't know that 'dick redrawing' was......   reply

I must admit, I got my start reading yaoi fanfic back in 7-8th grade, mostly for Gundam Wing. I believe I watched Loveless, Sekai ichi Hatsukoi, Kyou Kara Maoh, No. 6, and read a few doujinshi, but I still prefer to read/write fanfiction even now. I'm actually pretty new to reading yaoi manga, it's only something I've started to do in the last ye......   reply

I've always loved the quote on this page. I like the imagery it provokes, like I imagine spindly shadow fingers slowly curling around your feet and enveloping your whole body. I think that it's an accurate way to describe jealousy. This is the manga it's from-- http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/doushitemo_furetakunai/   2 reply

USA, Midwest. At the Walmart Market closest to my house, it's pretty cleaned out--no deli meat, bread, coffee creamer, soup, medicine, cereal, and Pedialyte. And of course soap. There was also 75% less people in the store than usual when I went. Strangely, at the other local grocery store only two streets over, they have no such shortage of the......   reply

I don't necessarily hide that I like anime (though I do keep my interest in yaoi/shounen ai to myself), but I definitely went through a period right after high school, where I had a large group of friends who also watched it and we could discuss it together, and into college where I did keep it to myself because I was out of my comfort zone. Now th......   reply
