So I was reading something where the main characters name was Boksil. I was curious on how to say it so I looked it up. It’s pronounced boke-she, boke like woke, she like she. I’ve been butchering it so bad up till now ╥﹏╥
Can someone explain how the English lettering representation translates phonetic wise to Korean???

If you’re confused on what I’m asking I mean like for example if I were explaining how Spanish phonetics differ from English when reading I would say “j=h” and “h=silent”

I know there’s probably a lot of Korean words that just don’t translate well to English lettering but I want to try my best to understand a little more.

If you say you like green or pink or blue etc...you always have to be specific with what shade you like or you’ll end up with that one ugly shade, you know the one.
