Sangwoo's backstory is so fascinating. In a way you can kind of compare the person he was from back then to the person he turned Bum into. Obviously it's not the same, but in a sense he was fearing for his own life and sanity as well. Actually I'm amazed that he didn't snap sooner from the amount of abuse he witnessed.

Also surprised that the mom didn't just straight up stab the dad while he was sleeping? But I guess that's harder to pull off. Anyway her deal with poisoning her son is a little...

Well, it's just interesting to look at things that happened to Sangwoo that turned him into a monster. Ngl, I feel like I gained a deeper understanding of his character with this chapter.

I think she just wanted to make her husband weak, so he wouldn't have abused her anymore. I'm not excusing her actions, but it's the only way to overcome a physically stronger abuser.

    Hmmm I dont think so.
She tried to kill Sanwoo as a kid and then after her husband's death, she tried to kill Sangwoo again with poison.
I dont think that the death is a big deal for her.

If she wanted to kill Sangwoo, then she would've already done it(Killing him in his sleep for example) but she didn't, posibility is that she wanted him to be sick so she can feel value by taking care of him.

Ok she could have killed him another way but the posioning is less obvious than the other methods.
And posioning in the end after long time of taking would in the end cause death or very serious side effects.
And she also was poisoning her husband and was really happy when he died.
She also tried to kill Sanwoo once.
So i I wouldnt be so sure about that.

Whether you enjoyed this manhwa or not, this is just a gentle and friendly reminder that abusive relationships can take many different forms. I've seen many people asking "why would kyung-soo stay after being raped? That's so stupid!" And while I understand this confusion, it is unfortunately very common in abusive relationships. The person being abused can sometimes lose sight of the fact that they deserve respect, and other times they get used to conflating toxic behavior with love and affection. There are also situations in which the victim has developed a coping mechanism to deal with the relationship by being codependent or submissive and is afraid or unmotivated to seek out a different way of life. That is just the gist of it, but to summarize the logic in a victim who stays in an abusive relationship is very complex and probably isn't going to make a whole lot of sense to someone who's never been in one.

Furthermore, the decision to stay in an abusive relationship doesn't make you stupid or weak. You are doing your best to deal with the abuse in your own way and you should feel encouraged to seek help when possible. I promise that shaming the victim into leaving will not work and often the reason that they stay is rooted in a lack of self worth anyway. I work at a homeless center and unfortunately it often takes 6 or 7 times of leaving and repeating the cycle of violence until the victim finally leaves for good. It's just not as simple as leaving because someone is hurting you.

Thankfully. This is just fiction! No real people are getting hurt, but just in case, i would like to mention that this manga is obviously not representative of a healthy or balanced relationship. If you like reading it that's fine and I'm absolutely not judging you. Just keep in mind, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable in real life and if you or someone you know is struggling with being abused in any kind of domestic relationship, I strongly encourage you to seek help and or provide support to that victim. You are a beautiful human being and you deserve proper love and respect.

Heavily reminds me of caste heaven? Good if you want something quick, smutty & cruel/mean (but not feeling something as edgy as Caste heaven/killing stalking/warehouse etc. or as plot driven)

Sometimes I think people forget that this is fictional. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ obviously this stuff would never be okay in reality. IRL Yule is an irredeemable piece of shit who needs to get stuck in a blender. In the story...
He is pretty much the same tbh but he didn't *actually* hurt anybody, because he is... a 2d drawing. He hurts other 2d drawings.

That sounds harsh to say, but I'm hoping it will chill some people out a little? In my opinion at least, it's okay to want a happy ending for these two. I personally want to see something tragic because I like it when they suffer, but if you don't want that, you are not a bad person! Fiction rarely mirrors reality.

Also to people who are disappointed that they keep coming back and Yule is still an asshole....
I honestly don't think you're enjoying this story. And that's fine too!! But don't torture yourself with it if you dislike It! There are plenty of good stories out there, and it's okay to not like this genre. Everyone has different tastes.

My best advice is to just find your inner Buddha and go on as if you spent the past hour hotboxing in the taco bell parking lot. (▰˘◡˘▰)

Not to be negative or anything. But we cant understand some people. Things like this happen for real, im sure. its sad.

    coffeedrinker March 12, 2018 8:21 pm

Yeah man, fiction is fiction which is why depicting rape and abuse is fine. However, if there’s a romantic, happy ending between the two it’s just hand waving and romanticizing the abuse. It would be poorly written. It would have many of the same problems 50 Shades of Grey does - that’s why people hate that book, cause it portrays abuse as sexy and cute.
You’re allowed to like it if the story ends that way, but I’m allowed to be critical of it then, because that’s literally just bad writing, lol. People criticize things for bad writing all the time.

Yeah, I mean I'd have a problem (a dispassionate one, but a problem) if it ended that way too-- and of course people can criticize!!! I love criticizing things. But I guess I'm referring mostly to the people who keep coming back to the story specifically to check if Yule has become a good person yet. If that makes sense. I see it a lot in the Killing Stalking fandom where people honestly think that Bum & Sangwoo are going to become a genuinely lovey dovey couple by the end of it. Like, it's just not (& never gonna be) the genre you want it to be, buddy.

Also unimportant but I personally think that one thing this manhwa does better than 50-shades is that people don't really wish they had their own Yule. Some of them, maybe, sure, but the reception that 50 shades got was *huge*. (also I know you're not really comparing them, I just like bashing 50 shades& tbh I rarely get the chance)

I know they're difficult to compare since they're 2 different mediums aimed at 2 different demographics but people seriously believed that they wanted their own Christian Grey.

Yule may be attractive but it's really fluffing hard to ignore the fact that he deliberately asked his friends to gangrape his (at the time) lover, among all the *other* horrific things that he did to Kyung-soo. 50 shades of grey really went the extra mile to make the reader want to be with Christian Grey by glossing over the abuse with sex and all of the nice things that Anastasia was being showered with in exchange. Wow I know a lot more about that book than I want to know?? Anyways, there isn't really that kind of glorification of Yule's character going on here that I can see. Aside from his attractive face and once-in-a-blue-moon affectionate outburst, he's trash & stays trash throughout the story. Christian Grey is trash, but he is a trashcan wearing a tuxedo and a pretty bow tie who delivers helicopters to his trash babies.
