i watched the anime and i want to continue reading the manga but i stopped myself, i just knew that chihaya will ends up with arata but my second lead syndrom wont be able to take it so yeah, goodbye, i may reading it again only IF chihaya ends up with taichi! yea im running away from reality, so what?
I CANT BELIVE CHIHAIA ENDED WITH TAICH… THAT IS JUST RIDICULOUS AND DISAPPOINTING, ITS IS JUST A NO, JUST BECAUSE EVERY ONE PITTED HIM THEY GAVE THIS END, I SO IN SHOK, I WAS WATCHING THE ANIME FOR THE 100° TIME, BUT NOW IS POINTLESS, AWFUL END, wish I didn’t read this shit so I could watch this shit happly for the rest of my life. This crap just ended my day, don’t give shitty endings out of pitty. DISGUSTING
Easily one of my favorites! Its incredible how the mangaka captures so may dimensions, so many emotions and makes karuta look so fascinating. Its very well balanced and keeps you thoroughly engaged from start to finish. The whole ensemble was so interesting.. even characters I didnt like in the beginning, I came to feel for. Plot, character development and maturity 10/10. I'm so happy with who she ended up with. Tbh Taichi has been Chihaya's rock from the beginning. He's so important to both of them. I always felt that Arata was someone she looked up to, was chasing as a goal. I do feel the last chapter was rushed. We only see hints of Chihaya's true feelings but never see them stew and gain form. Wish we had an extra or two (some crumbs T_T).
yes it is true that taichi has done a lot for chihaya, but you cannot force anyone to love someone. Above all, it looks to me that Arata and Chihaya have been destined for each other since day one! After all, chihaya found her passion through Arata and connects him with it ...
This story primarily focuses on the game 'karuta' that combines a lot of skills - knowledge of 100 poems, listening skills, memorization skills and response time. Arata, a quiet kid from the suburbs whose only interest is in karuta, struggles to get along with other students in his new school in the city. Chihaya, a tomboy, reaches out to him and Arata teaches her karuta. She falls in love with the game right away and for the first time she has a dream for herself - to become the karuta Queen. Taichi, popular and good at everything (studies, soccer), has a crush on Chihaya. So he bullies Arata initially but then joins them to play karuta so that he can be with Chihaya. The three of them join the karuta club and play karuta together as a team. They separate after a year as Arata moves back and the other two go to different middle schools. However, all 3 cherish the memory of their first match together. Chihaya works hard to ensure that the 3 of them will continue to play karuta because she believes that the game will bring them back together. The manga is more about karuta than about romance. Karuta means different things to each of them. For Arata, it is his entire life as it is the only thing he is really good at and it helps him be close to his grandfather who was a Meijin for many consecutive years. For Chihaya, it is the first thing she felt passionate about and the first time she had a dream for herself. For Taichi, to begin with, it was just a means to an end - a way to be close to Chihaya. However, he is so talented that even without any passion for the game, he becomes really good at it. Eventually though, it helps him better understand the other players of the game and come to terms with his relationship with Arata. We also have many interesting supporting characters. What I find most interesting is that the karuta cards mean different things to different players. For some, they are just the starting sounds based on which the cards are taken, some visualize them as the scenes described in the 100 poems, some see the beautiful calligraphy on the cards, while for the reigning Queen, they are small gods representative of the poets who wrote the poems. Well written and very interesting read.
I just love Chihaya's character and hope that whoever she ends up with (if she ever ends up with either Taichi or Arata) she'll live happily and continue playing karuta for as long as she wants.
A 1000000/10. It's downright amazing. Chihaya's growth is just out of this world and i can't help but infinitely cheer her on. I love both taichi and arata and everyone else and how they cheer her on always. I love how thoughtful and how loving Chihaya is. She's just literally an angel. She is so amazing, incredible, outstanding, unique, and special. I can't help but fall in love with her. At first i didn't want to read the manga, but NOW. I'm so freaking happy that i decided to because it's so amazing seeing her growth every step of the way.
